Many thanks to all those who took part in the District hike last Monday. The event was said to have run without any problems. Around 100 beavers from across the district took part and all behaved brilliantly so well done. We've also been specially thanked by the police officers who took part in the hike for the good work we do in scouting and the benefit it brings to the local community. Jill Hallas and June Flack would like to thank all the leaders and helpers who provided support to the hike, your efforts were said to be 'much appreciated'. I would like to thank the 50th Cambridge for letting us use their facilities in Milton to finish the hike, which brought a nice end to the evening. So, many positives to be taken from the hike, but the last comes from the 18th and 14th Cambridge Beavers who managed to raise over £100 for charity through sponsorship. I was very saddened to hear today of the untimley death of Cambridge scouter, Mark Sewell.

Scouts and Explorer Scouts from Cambridge are enjoying the Eurojam experience. The European Scout Jamboree is taking place in the UK and runs until 10th August 2005.

Scouts from Cambridge attending Eurojam this Summer have received a financial boost from the Cambridge University Rag Appeal at a special presentation for members of the Cambridge Community Volunteer Service.

We will be promoting Cambridge Scouting at the City Council's Big Day Out on Parkers Piece in July and will have a display to support this.

Nominations are currently sought for the position of District Commissioner for Cambridge Scouting. The closing date is 11th June 2005.
