| Iron Age Farm Activity Days | 12th February, 2004 |
Hinchingbrooke Country Park has an Iron Age Farm in which we now have a
full size reconstructed roundhouse. The farm is used by many local schools
throughout the year as an educational resource for learning about
archaeology and specifically the Iron Age and Romano-British Period.
However we are keen for the farm and space around the Country Park to be
used by a range of groups and feel that it may be an ideal place for Scouts
to come and learn some new skills and about how people lived in the past. I
am sure that many scouts could get that one step closer to a prized badge
with the range of activities we can put on for your Scout group, for
example some of the activities may be able to count towards the Beaver, Cub
or Scouts Creative, Outdoor or even Caring Challenge!
We can accommodate groups of up to 60 young people and can either do half
or full day activities. There are facilities at the park for camping and
you could camp down at the farm for a fee of £1 per person. The day may
even be melded with your own scouting activities such as orienteering? We
are also keen on groups making props for the farm and often have open day
events where a small Scout group may like to come and help on the day doing
a variety of tasks to help them earn a badge or take part in a community
service.
If you would like further information please don't hesitate to contact me
at the above details.
Yours Sincerely,
Jeni Keen
