BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Action DeskBBC Radio Cambridgeshire operates an Action Desk aimed at supporting
community groups such as Scouts. University of Cambridge Active Communities FundEstablished to develop links between the University students and
staff and the wider community. Funding of up to £5,000 is
available for projects that can demonstrate a close link through the
voluntary activity of students and employees. University of Cambridge, Community Giveaway Board.A number of areas within the University give away unwanted items to
the voluntary sector locally and to facilitate this a web based message
board has been set up by the Corporate Liaison Office. Scouts Recycling AppealOver 1,300 Scout Groups have shared in an £80,000 Scouting
recycling programme. In which they can exchange used printer cartridges
and old mobile phones for cash. Friends, family, neighbours and local
businesses and organisations will be happy to help you collect these
items for recycling. The scheme is endorsed by the Scout Association. If you would like to register for the scheme or find out more then go to www.scoutsappeal.com The Bernard Sunley Charitable FoundationThis trust is one of the few that offers no information on the
criteria by which grants are decided. Consequently this trust does
receives a large number of applications. The trust had a grant total of
£2.7m in 2000/01 and the beneficial area is unrestricted but tends to
be mainly in southern England. W W Spooner Charitable TrustThis is a small trust that will support charities working with
youth. Grants range from £200 - £2,000, but most donations
are for less than £500. The trust clearly states that grants for
high-profile appeals seeking large sums will not be accepted. Scouts PlusTime is running out to register for this new fundraising scheme! The
launch is in September and it offers a simple way to fundraise for your
Scout Group.
